Oboro no Ichi meaning
Oboro no Ichi meaning, in TheLaba's own devlog, is a market in Kakuriyo. Wandering souls rest there, trade memories away, and slowly find peace. The header art pairs a calligraphed subtitle under the romanized name. Midori no Kaori, the earlier game in this world, pointed those souls toward Tokoyo.
thelabaofficial posted Devlog 1 under the title The Market of Memories. TheLaba calls Oboro no Ichi a cozy market-building game set in a spiritual world, and gives this market the softer meaning: accepting, letting go, and finding comfort in Kakuriyo. A soul who arrives can set a memory down and stay.
Midori no Kaori shares the world and points the other way. Lost souls in that game remember and follow their path toward Tokoyo. Oboro no Ichi keeps the visit inside the market. Tokoyo is the far end of the older path. Kakuriyo is where that path can stop.
The devlog calls the Kakuriyo side softer than the road toward Tokoyo.
One world, two tasks for a lost soul.
Why the market is in Kakuriyo
The devlog is a personal note about origin, not a systems guide. TheLaba uses it to name the world behind the market and the meaning hoped for. Stall links, production, and Open Market stay on the Market page. The free Windows demo is one opening lesson in that same market.
The note roots the place in peaceful spots TheLaba knew in Japan, in traditional folklore, and in games that leave room to slow down. The hoped-for feeling is a quiet room: breathe, and feel at home. The same post dedicates the market to people who are no longer here. It is framed as a warm place where memory can rest. The sign-off asks players to keep the lanterns lit.
A store screenshot puts a spirit beside a lantern stall. The line on that frame is: I thought I was lost, but this place feels kind. That is Kakuriyo in a visitor's voice. The store premise sits beside it: a Japan-inspired market suspended between memories, where lost souls look for peace.
A Gamezebo preview dated September 23, 2026 reads the title as a hazy or misty market. Devlog 1 does not use that reading. The meaning written down by TheLaba is the Kakuriyo one: rest, memories traded away, and peace. The header spelling pairs a calligraphed banner with Oboro no Ichi.
